In ‘Athlete 3’, Liviu Bulea presents a captivating interplay of strength and vulnerability through the medium of pen on paper. The artwork, sized at 42 x 30 cm and framed, is an original one-of-one piece that encapsulates a moment of dynamic balance and direct gaze.
Bulea’s ink crosshatching technique imbues the figure with both warmth and solidity, offering a sense of presence that challenges conventional representations of the male body. The piece navigates themes of queer desire and embodiment, celebrating the body as a site of both attraction and introspection.
This drawing is not merely a visual experience but a statement on intimacy and identity. Its presence in a private collection invites reflection on the nuances of desire and representation, making it a thought-provoking addition to any interior.
