Casa Susanna unveils a poignant chapter in the history of transgender and gender nonconforming communities in mid-20th century America. This limited edition paperback is a testament to resilience and self-discovery, chronicling the lives of those who found refuge in a modest house in the Catskills.
The photographs, discovered serendipitously, capture moments of joy, experimentation, and profound connection. They reveal a world where individuals could momentarily exist without societal judgment, guided by Susanna Valenti’s vision of acceptance and transformation.
This publication is more than a collection of images; it is a narrative of courage and community that resonates deeply within contemporary dialogues on identity and expression. A piece for the discerning collector, it serves as both a historical document and a catalyst for reflection.
