Liviu DC

Liviu DC is a visual artist from Cluj-Napoca whose practice unfolds between drawing, tattooing and sculpture. At the centre of his work is a personal process of change and transformation. Rather than treating identity as something fixed, he approaches it through fragments, sensations and recurring encounters with the body, nature and the emotional texture of everyday life.

Each discipline gives this investigation a different form. Drawing allows an immediate translation of thought and feeling into line. Tattooing places the image directly in relation to a living body, where it changes through time and becomes part of another person’s experience. Sculpture introduces volume, weight and physical space, enabling an internal process to take on an external presence. The movement between these forms keeps his visual language open and responsive.

Liviu DC uses relationships between bodies, natural forms and emotion to create images that are not intended as simple representations. A flower, a figure or an abstracted form may begin with something recognisable, then develop into a space for reflection. Works such as Good Company, Better Together, Consensus and the series Some Days You’re the Flower, Some Days You’re the Dirt suggest an interest in connection, uncertainty and the changing positions people occupy within their own lives.

His limited-edition works on paper and sculptural objects ask the viewer to pause rather than decode a fixed message. Transformation remains both subject and method. Materials change, images migrate between skin, paper and three-dimensional form, and personal experience becomes available without being fully explained. Through this process, Liviu DC creates invitations to self-knowledge, proposing art as a space in which everyday fragments can be held, reconsidered and understood differently.
